PRODUCT INFORMATION AND TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS
Log Max designs, manufactures and sells harvester heads that can be mounted on any carrier, such as a wheeled or tracked forest machine or an excavator. The head is mounted at the far end of the crane, grips the tree, fells it using a hydraulic saw, feeds the tree through the head while delimbing and measuring it, then bucks it into suitable lengths
The AFC system is the foundation on which our heads are built, and it enables them to harvest trees with precision and minimal friction. The system is patented and involves equipping the head's upper delimbing knife with an analogue sensor to monitor the stem's position in the head. This function enables the stem to be fed through the head more easily. You can learn more about on the page Active Friction Control
Four-point measurement is an option on the Log Max 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 heads. Measurements are made using four points: two opposite each other in the feed rollers, one in the lower delimbing knife, which consists of a sensor, and a baseline in the frame. The sensor's job is to calliper the stem every decimetre and forward the reading to the control system. The control system combines this reading with the values provided by the feed rollers, enabling the system to present extremely good measurement results based on four measurement points. We are the only supplier on the market to offer customers four-point diameter measurements. This ensures reliable volume calculations and bucking. You can learn more on the page Four-point measurement
